Evergreen State Fair

On Labor Day, we headed out to the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. This was B's first experience at the fair and loved it!

Helping out

If you've been to our house in the past 4 years, you know that we have a broken doorbell, it makes a sound, but not a doorbell sound.

So, this summer, Scott installed a new doorbell for us.

Here he is with B installing....you can see that she was a fantastic helper, tutu skirt and all.

Bath time organizing

Brigitta loves to be in the water, more specifically taking a bath. After she is washed, she plays for a very long time. This is one of her many bathtime adventures; including organizing all of her soaps and toys.

These are taken from my dad's pictures of our camping trip - they were taken right around Kalaloch Beach

*some nice shots of the week - my lovely parents, my mom has been coming to Kalaloch since she was a little girl and I can guarantee that we will continue the tradition with Brigitta and any future children.

Birthday Breakfast

I celebrated my 31st birthday (ah!) while we were camping, so as a treat we all walked up to the Kalaloch Lodge and had a delicious breakfast.

Here is Brigitta enjoying her mountains of food. Please note - this was ordered off the children's menu.

The whole family went camping this year, this hasn't happened in like 20 years, I think we figured out. Nice pic!

Our breakfast was delicious - the last time we ate at the lodge, I think I was turning 8 or 9 and we went up to also celebrate my birthday. Thank you to the wonderful folks also eating at the lodge that morning - I'm sure we were smelling lovely!

Kalaloch River

There is a fresh water river that flows into the ocean at Kalaloch Beach - the Kalaloch River. Growing up, we would always play at the river, because we could rinse the salt water off our bodies after jumping waves and it was more fun to explore without the icy cold waves crashing down on you.

A shot of the river - we were amazed at how different the river looked this year. Every year, we are excited to see how different the beach looks based off the storms from the winter. Will there be lots of driftwood, how will the curve of the river change, etc.? This year, there was hardly any driftwood for us to take for our campfires, the river's direction had definitely changed and at high tide - the water was definitely coming up on the beach higher and higher.

Beach Four - tidepool Walk

Every time we go camping, we always go to Beach 4 for a tidepool walk at one of the low tides. This year the low tide happened to be in the early afternoon rather than the early morning, so we made more of a trip out of it.

Pretty gorgeous shot, don't you think?

camp sites

A few shots of our sites - here is the motor home

This was looking from our site to my parent's site. Note - there are no hook ups there, thankfully they do have flush toilets and some running water for washing hands, rinsing sand off feet, cleaning dishes, etc. We stay a week with no showers - but it is pure heaven!

Camping - August

Sunday, August 1st, we hit the road for a week long camping trip to Kalaloch Beach. We rented a motor home for this little excursion, despite being ridiculed by some, it was well worth it!

Brigitta enjoying her seat - she loved looking out the window during the car ride. She did great for the 4 hour car ride.

Our captain - getting us there safe and sound.
Daisy and me - her longest car ride for sure. I asked the vet how we could keep her calm in the car and she suggested benadryl, so we gave her two tablets that morning. She didn't relax until we hit Quinault - basically almost there. She rode in my lap for the last half of the trip.
Daisy looking for Scott in Aberdeen - we stopped for a quick bite to eat there.
