This weekend is Memorial Day weekend, so first off, a big THANK YOU to all of our vets and those currently serving in our military. We greatly appreciate what you are doing for our country and hope you can come home soon!
Alright, now, off to the events of our weekend.
Saturday, B was a little cranky, she has a cold, but with some tylenol and teething tablets, seemed to be fine. She wouldn't take an afternoon nap in her bed, but did snooze on the car ride down to the new Home Depot in Snohomish to get beauty bark with her daddy. She was in a great mood when she got home, so we set her up in her exersaucer in the garage, while Scott weed eated and mowed and I cleaned out the flower beds and put down all the beauty bark. Talk about an exhausting job and it was quite warm out, but it is done and the front looks beautiful now!
Saturday night arrives and B goes down, but wakes up 1 1/2 hours later and proceeded to stay awake all night long. She would fall asleep for about 30 minutes at a time and then would wake up crying. And this wasn't a normal cry, but more of a sad, pitiful sound, so we knew something was up. She ran a fever all night and the tylenol just wouldn't kick it.
Sunday morning arrives and we have duties at church, so Scott headed to church, while I got B ready and headed to the walk-in clinic in town. It opened at 9, we were there at 8:45, second people in line.
First off, she weighs 17.6 pounds with clothes and diaper on, not bad for 8 1/2 months old!
I tell the doctor; she was up all night, she's had a cold for the past 9 days, congested, pulling at her ear, slight rash on the bum, had a fever, etc. He didn't think she would have an ear infection, but let's appease the mom and check just to make sure.
Lo and behold, both ears are red and inflamed. Little Sassy Pants has her very first double ear infection, not bad for almost 9 months old. Hopefully, she won't follow in her mother's footsteps and have one every single month!!! We got her some amoxicillin for the infection and ear drops to help with the pain. I also got her some baby Motrin, I was unaware that babies could have ibuprofen, but bring it on! We will take whatever will help our little girl feel better.
So, long story short, we drugged her up yesterday and she napped off and on throughout the day and ended up sleeping 11 1/2 hours last night! Woo hoo!! She is a much happier baby this morning and back to her old self. Hooray for medicine!
Currently, she is watching her Baby Einstein video of Old MacDonald and she LOVES it! I know that research says, don't let babies watch t.v., blah, blah, blah. But this kids LOVES her Baby Einstein videos more than life itself. She giggles at them, kicks her legs and screams with excitement. Honestly, how can you deny her of that?!?!!?
And a shout out to my little bro who is touring Ireland right now...have a pint in honor of us bro!

Summertime???
Brigitta lounging in her diaper after our HOT day yesterday! She felt much better after her sun dress came off!
She is starting the teething process and constantly has her tongue out, such a lady!
This morning we visited my parents and the twins for a bit while they worked in the garden. We set B up on a blanket in the yard and gave her some toys. She loves being outside and thoroughly enjoyed watching my parents work and the kids playing. As you can see by her sweater, the weather started out much cooler this morning. Much more pleasant than Saturday!

Gardening
Grandpa or "Bompa" as the kids call him and Anthony getting the vegetable garden ready. Anthony was helping Bompa dig up the weeds before rotatilling for my mom to get her vegetables and flowers planted for the summer and fall.

Reading
This past Monday, B and I stayed home from work and daycare. She had a rough night, not going to sleep until 3 in the morning, in her carseat. We think she got overtired and her teeth are starting to bother her, so she was irritable and wouldn't go to sleep. We tried Baby Einstein, car rides, orajel, tylenol, gas drops, gripe water and teething tablets.
What finally worked you ask at 3 in the morning????? I was slightly swinging her car seat when I removed it from the car and that lulled her la-la land. So, I stood for 15 minutes holding my 8 month old baby at approximately 17-18 pounds and her car seat, draped on my arm while she fell asleep. When the snoring started, I knew we had success!
Here she is after her morning nap, happy as a clam, reading her numbers book.
She is now officially 8 months old and is doing amazing! She is sleeping 10-11.5 hours a night and goes down like a champ (most nights anyhow). She currently loves sweet potatoes, carrots, avocadoes pureed with applesauce, bananas, pears, peaches, apricots, prunes, applesauce and her oatmeal. Currently, no teeth, but I'm sure they are on their way and she isn't crawling yet, but that will come soon enough!
We are counting down the days until school is done and we only have 19 left, woo hoo!! I only worked half a year, but it definitely feels like a full year. Then, B and I can spend our summer together, probably inside, because it is the NW and more than likely, it will be raining. :)
Happy Mother's Day!
B and Mommy enjoying a wonderful day together! Scott and B got me many pictures from our wedding and B's birth and put them all together in beautiful frames.
My mom, B and me, enjoying Mother's Day together. Thanks mom for always being so amazing and such a help to us!

Bathing Beauty
Brigitta loves being outside and enjoys it even more when the sun is shining. Those of you from the NW know that we have had slim pickin's for sunny days around here. So, like any good Northwesterner, B stripped down and got out in the sunshine!
P.S. - This pic was taken a few weeks ago. Today's temp hit a record high of 97 at our house!! Muy caliente!
Bubbles!
A while back I bought some bubbles and wands to play with Brigitta and Lena. Lena was totally spooked by them, it was really hilarious to watch. B just sat there and instead of being spooked like the cat, she was completely mesmerized. I can already tell we are going to have lots of fun this summer!
Ferry Ride to Silverdale
A few weekends ago we headed across the water to Silverdale to have brunch with Scott's aunts and grandma. Brigitta slept on the way over and here is she is all bright and bushy tailed on the way home.
